We finally made it up to Mike's little Horse Ranch in Norco California. This is a horse town with horse trails everywhere. Almost everything here in this town is ranch / cowboy themed.
This was our first
stop without a 50 amp hook up.
We decided in preparation for boondocking in the
near future that we would limit our water just as if we were dry camping. You
now see how far we could go on a hundred gallons of water and how long it would
take us to fill up the black and grey tanks.
Mike was able hook up an extension
cord so we can keep our battery charged. After we leveled Seemore and extended
the slides Kathy and I headed to Bob's Big Boy.
Yep that's Bob wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots.
Did you know you could
split one of those super thick shake's? You can hear.
Mike has a horse, two dogs, chickens, roosters, bunny rabbits and as the Sun
Goes Down frogs, lots of frogs. It's like music.
That's Lola, Mikes moms pony exerting her ( 1 ) horsepower.
Mindy came over, Mike build a campfire in a used stainless steel wash tub.
It works great.
I wanted to dive right in and help out, this was really cool. The work called
to me...
I mucked the stalls and fed the horses.
This is Ruger.
While we were here we took care of dentist & medical appointments. We got
our taxes done. That's the last time we pay California taxes. We owed the feds
and got money back from the state.
We wanted to visit some of our favorite restaurants while in
our old stomping grounds.
We met up with Steve & Linda and had dinner at
one of our favorite restaurants,
The Northwoods Inn Covina California.
I have been going here for over 40 years, so good.
Thanks for dinner.
We were able to share one of the other choices with Ken and Jena, at
Wood Ranch
BBQ and Grill in Irvine California.
Thanks for dinner.
The others were Pepe's in Placentia and The Hat in Brea.
We were invited to Linda and Dusty's house for a fabulous dinner party in pure
California fashion outside by the pool. We were treated to an eclectic
Italian / BBQ with so many desserts.
We really enjoyed meeting their friends.
They have a beautiful family.
Thanks for dinner.
Jay Yoha and his wife were down visiting from Washington State and had a little
gathering over at a pizza joint in Tustin. It was good seeing Jay again.
Thanks for the slice and brew.
Kathy contact Amanda her niece, our niece, who is attending Cal Poly and
actually boarding her horse in Norco not very far away. Kathy went to go hang
out with Amanda and see her horse and then brought her back to Mike's Ranch to
check out the our motorhome and Mike’s horse.
More chickens. Yup Mike pick up a few more chickens. These 3 + 6 more.
A gathering of sorts, you know food, swapping stories, shooting pool, dancing
and the bonfire.
The pictures speak for themselves.
I've really have to get my
camera out and take more.
So for those who are wondering how far we made it on a 100 gallons of water, it
was 1 week, which is pretty crazy considering I read that the average
Californian uses a 170 gallons a day. Actually we probably could have gone one more day. We did this by
taking Navy showers, capturing dish washing water and flushing down the black
water tank and following this old advice, "If its yellow, let it mellow, if
its brown flush it down"
We understand from one of the blogs that we follow "Wheelingit" you can actually achieve
just about two weeks.
We have spent two weeks here in Norco on Mikes Ranch and enjoyed every minute
of it but it's time to move on and head north up the road a bit.
Thank you Mike for your hospitality.
